India AI Impact Summit 2026 Roundup: 5 Lakh Attendees, $200+ Billion Investments & More

India’s AI ambitions reached a new milestone this week as the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi evolved into one of the largest artificial intelligence gatherings globally.

Originally scheduled to be held from February 16 to 20, 2026, The India AI Impact Summit 2026 was extended by one day, culminating on February 21 instead. The extension came about because of an “overwhelming response” for the event, along with being “closed” on February 19 to manage “record-breaking” crowds and accommodate high-profile diplomatic events.

More than five lakh attendees participated, alongside over 20 Heads of Government, 59 ministerial representatives, delegates from 118 countries, 100 plus global AI leaders and CEOs, and more than 500 leading AI experts. The scale was amplified by 550 pre-summit events across 30 countries and 500 side events during the summit itself.

Qualcomm Launches $150 Million Strategic AI Venture Fund To Back Indian Startups


Qualcomm Incorporated announced plans to invest up to $150 million through Qualcomm Ventures to accelerate India’s AI startup ecosystem. The fund will target startups across stages, with a focus on AI applications in automotive, IoT, robotics, and mobile.

CEO Cristiano Amon said the new Strategic AI Venture Fund will support companies advancing the next chapter of AI in India, particularly as intelligence becomes embedded into everyday devices and industrial systems. He highlighted the shift toward edge AI and its industry-wide implications.

Qualcomm has backed more than 40 Indian startups since 2007. Quinn Li, Senior Vice President at Qualcomm Technologies and global head of Qualcomm Ventures, said the new allocation deepens the company’s long-standing commitment to India’s innovation landscape.

India AI Impact Summit Unlocks Over $200 Billion In AI Investments


India’s ambition to become a global AI powerhouse gained financial muscle as conglomerates and global tech giants unveiled massive infrastructure commitments.

Reliance Industries and Jio announced a $109.8 billion investment over seven years to build an integrated AI stack, including multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centers. A Jamnagar facility is expected to add over 120 megawatts in the second half of this year. Chairman Mukesh Ambani framed the move as a mission to democratize computing power.

Adani Group committed $100 billion through 2035 for renewable-powered AI data centers, projecting that it could catalyze an additional $150 billion across related sectors, potentially creating a $250 billion AI ecosystem. The plan builds on AdaniConnex’s existing 2 gigawatt footprint and targets 5 gigawatts.

Larsen and Toubro partnered with NVIDIA under the IndiaAI Mission to build a sovereign gigawatt-scale AI factory, scaling GPU clusters to 30 megawatts in Chennai and adding a 40 megawatt Mumbai facility.

Microsoft reiterated plans to invest $50 billion across the Global South by the end of the decade, reinforcing its previously announced $17.5 billion India commitment.

Yotta Data Services committed over $2 billion to deploy more than 20,000 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra chips in a New Delhi AI supercluster, with IPO plans to raise up to $1.2 billion.

Tata Consultancy Services signed OpenAI as the first customer for its HyperVault data center initiative, starting with 100 megawatts and scalable to 1 gigawatt.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the ‘MANAV’ vision, positioning it as India’s guiding doctrine for AI development. He emphasized that AI must remain safe, transparent, and accountable, enhancing human capabilities rather than replacing them.

He warned against concentration of computing power in limited regions and called for stronger inclusion of Global South nations in AI governance frameworks. Modi also stressed workforce skilling, lifelong learning, and collaboration across government, academia, and industry to ensure responsible AI deployment.

At the India AI Impact Expo, Modi tested Sarvam Kaze, a spectacles-style AI wearable developed by Sarvam AI. The device enables voice-first interactions, processes contextual cues, and delivers real-time responses.

Built and designed in India, the wearable aligns with domestic innovation goals and is scheduled for commercial release in May 2026. Pricing details are expected closer to launch.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said he never imagined Visakhapatnam would become a global AI hub. He revealed that Google is establishing a full stack AI hub there as part of its $15 billion India investment, featuring gigawatt-scale compute and a new international subsea cable gateway.

The facility is expected to generate jobs and expand AI access for businesses nationwide.
 

AI Can Substitute Everything But Integrity, Says MoS Jitendra Singh


Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh said AI can transform systems but cannot replace integrity. Invoking the MANAV principle, he stressed ethical and inclusive AI use.

He noted that nearly 2,000 obsolete rules have been scrapped over the past decade and emphasized institutional upgrades and capacity building for a technology-led governance model.
 

8-Year-Old Ranvir Sachdeva Becomes Youngest Keynote Speaker At AI Summit


Eight-year-old Ranvir Sachdeva emerged as the youngest keynote speaker at the summit, discussing indigenous AI models, AI literacy, and how India’s technological direction contributes to GDP growth.

"I'm talking about how I'm linking ancient Indian philosophies to modern-day technologies. I'm also covering the different approaches which the rest of the nations are building AI," he said.

Previously a speaker at the United Nations AI for Good Global Summit, he addressed how India is building AI models and contributing to GDP growth while linking ancient philosophies to modern technology.
 

PM Modi Interacts With 600 Startups At India AI Impact Expo


Modi inaugurated the Expo at Bharat Mandapam and visited multiple stalls among more than 600 high-potential startups and 13 country pavilions, signaling strong government backing for emerging AI ventures.

The National Payments Corporation of India introduced ‘UPI One World,’ a prepaid wallet enabling foreign delegates to transact via India’s UPI infrastructure without opening local bank accounts. Delegates can load funds and use QR-based payments across retail, hospitality, and transportation services.

Delegates can complete a simplified onboarding process through authorized channels, load funds into the wallet, and use it to pay for retail purchases, hotel stays, transportation, dining, and other services during their visit.
