What Is Data Extraction?
Data extraction is like going to the store and buying needed items. Then, when you get home, you find that one of the items was damaged and unusable. This is what data extraction does for you. It enters your database, finds all your data, and picks the excellent stuff. It's like if you were trying to find a particular item in a grocery store, but instead of having a list of exactly what you wanted, it was just a bunch of things that vaguely looked like stuff on your list (but might not be it). Structured data is like a well-oiled machine. It's clean, creates sense, and is easy to understand. Unstructured data? That's like the messy kid at school who doesn't fit in with the other kids; you want to help them out, but they're just so hard to deal with. Whether structured or unstructured, data has to be extracted from somewhere—and that's where we come in. We can take care of everything from removing data from unstructured sources to converting it into formats that make sense for your business needs. Data extraction is, simply put, the process of getting data out of a messy place. It's like your crazy uncle: he's brilliant and knows a lot of stuff, but he's an animal. He gets up to all types of misconduct in his own time, and it just takes him a while to get things together enough to present them to you in a way that makes sense. The best way to think about data extraction is that it's like taking care of your uncle. You have to be forbearing with him, let him do his thing, and ensure you're ready for what comes next when he finally gets around to putting his thoughts into words. Once he gets going, however, the process can be pretty smooth! Once things are said and done, you'll have everything you need from him—and then some! We use data extraction to take all those different sources and make sense of them to connect them and get at what we're looking for actionable insights!
