Video streaming is the best way to watch videos online. Why? You don't have to download the video on your device, and it's instant! Video streaming allows users to watch videos on demand instead of downloading the entire file and playing it later in real time. The user can pause, rewind, fast-forward and otherwise control the playback at any given time. In addition, the user may select multiple streams and watch them at once; this feature is called multi-casting. How does video streaming work? It's simple: The server sends small video pieces over HTTP (the same protocol used for web pages), which are then played by your browser or app. This way, no matter what device you're using, phone, tablet, or laptop, you can always get the best possible video quality wherever you go! So most video streaming providers offer different bit rates for video streams, ranging from low resolution to high resolution. Depending on the video player and the media file size, a single video stream can consume significant data. Video streaming may only be ideal for some situations, such as transferring large amounts of data or requiring a high-speed connection to view the video. The screen goes black for a second when you're watching a movie, and the film suddenly pops back on. That's because of streaming. When you download something, it's all in one big chunk. When you stream it, that chunk is broken up into smaller parts and sent out over the internet as they become available. The size of each data stream depends on various factors, including actual file size, bandwidth speed and network latency. The user or client player decompresses and displays the streamed data, allowing a user to begin viewing the file before receiving the entire video data or file.
