What Is Superstitial?
Do you know how an ad pops up while reading a web page? It's like, "Hey! Look at this ad and you need to buy this" Well, there's a new kind of interstitial display: the superstitial. These ads pop up as soon as you open a web page and disappear after a few seconds. They're all about grabbing your attention and getting you to click on something. Superstitial ads are more likely than regular interstitials for sales and lead generation, that is, trying to get you to purchase something or sign up for some service. The idea is that the longer they stay on your screen (the more time you spend looking at them), the more likely they'll catch your eye and make you act on what they're offering. Superstitial ads are like the annoying cousin of a pop-up. They're not quite intrusive and don't take over the screen, but they are less welcome than an old friend. They look like regular web pages, but they're ads that appear when you land on a website. They may look like splash pages or splash screens that are also interstitial on websites in that they pop up and disappear after a few seconds or as prompted by a user. The ads are called superstitial because they appear over the content the user is viewing. They can be irritating because of this. However, experts frequently describe them as having a 'polite' delivery mechanism. For example, many of them are semi-transparent and have 'opt-out' buttons at the top right corner, which users would expect to find to be able to close the ad. quickly. Superstitial ads were created for a world where you can only sometimes be sure how big a screen will be. They're superimposed and these ads can fill the whole screen without worrying about how they will fit into a particular layout. They are also great for getting creative with your design and you're not limited by what you can see on the page because you need one!
