What Is Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS)?
If you've ever tried to take a selfie with your phone, you and your gang have all dressed up and are ready to go. You need one picture on your phone to record or remember this moment. You probably know what a struggle it is to get that perfect shot. One wrong move and the whole thing goes to hell. A new technology called electronic image stabilization (EIS) is here to help you out! It's an image enhancement technique that uses electronic processing to minimize blurring and compensate for device shake. More technically, this technique is called pan and slant, the angular movement corresponding to pitch and yaw. Sometimes the camera needs to catch up. That's when the EIS comes in. It's a stabilizer, but it goes deeper. It's a system that ensures your camera is always on point, even when not. When shooting videos or taking still photos, you want every frame to be as clear and crisp as possible. Yet sometimes, things throw off your shot, and we're not just talking about shaking hands here. You've got wind, dust, and maybe even some rainwater flying around too! The problem is that they don't just affect one or two frames when these things happen. They affect every single frame of video or every single still image after that moment in time until you stop recording or snap another photo and get back on track. That means your whole video could be ruined by just one wrong frame! If you're taking pictures with a telephoto lens? Forget about it. Your whole shot could be destroyed by just one little gust of wind! Guess what? With EIS technology built right into your camera (or phone), you no longer have to worry about this!
