What Is Data Management?
Data management is a lot like a house party. If you're the host, you must ensure that the house is clean and tidy and that there's plenty of food and drinks so your guests stay energized and energized. You also need to ensure that everyone feels welcome so they don't go home early. You can't just throw a party at any old place—it has to be clean but also has enough space to move around and do their own thing without getting in each other's way. If someone's having a great time at your party, you want them to feel comfortable inviting their friends over too! Data management is like that: you want your data to be safe and secure but easy for people who need it (or might need it) to access. If someone finds something interesting in your data (like maybe they discover a new way for humans to travel faster than light), then you want them to be able to share that discovery with other scientists around the world! Data management is a lot like your mom's. It's there to protect you, organize, and care for all the little details in life. Your mom ensures your clothes are clean and ready for school every morning. She helps you pick out an outfit and ensures it matches everyone else's. She packs your lunch and extra snacks in case you get hungry on the way home from school. When she knows that her friends are having a sleepover, she ensures enough sheets and blankets for everyone to stay warm and comfortable throughout the night. Data management does all of these things, too! Data management has a workflow that follows a standard pattern: from creation through processing, utilization, storage, deletion and finally back again—just like your mom cares for you throughout the day (and night!).
