What Is Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI)?
The National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI) is a type of dream team established to ensure you will never have to worry about your internet security again. Their goal is to make sure that you are always able to access the information you need online. The Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology are all members of this organization. They collaborate to establish standards for government agencies' information technology systems and services. When you hear the word "NCCI" stated in a speech or read it on a politician's lips, they are talking about this team that is committed to safeguarding the cybersecurity of the United States of America through their relationship with other organizations such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Department of Defense (DoD). The United States Cybersecurity Coordinator (USCC) position was established under the National Security Council in April 2015 after President Obama issued an executive order establishing the post. This office is in charge of coordinating cybersecurity strategy across all of the government's departments and agencies on behalf of the president. This is done so that the whole government can take a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity policy. The work of the US Cyber Command (USCC) is supported by a Cybersecurity Coordinator (CSC), who acts as the top person in charge of cybersecurity policy and strategy for the White House. The CSC is responsible for immediately reporting its activities to President Obama, as well as to the National Security Advisor and other senior White House officials. Since May 2009, President Obama has been working with his head of cybersecurity, Michael Daniel, to make CNCI and its related operations essential parts of a more complete and up-to-date plan for the United States to fight cyber threats.
