What Is White Screen of Death (WSoD)?
If you've ever had your iPhone go white, you know it's a pretty terrifying experience. Your phone is your lifeline in many ways, and when it suddenly stops working, you're left in the dark. The phrase "white screen of death" (WSoD) in the IT world refers to a given error that occurs in Apple operating systems and other technologies wherein the user screen abruptly goes white. It is similar to the "blue screen of death" error in Microsoft Windows. Software bugs or hardware problems typically cause white screens. The former can be fixed with updates from Apple; the latter usually requires a trip to an authorized repair center or replacing parts outright. The good news is that WSoD errors don't happen very often—they're rare compared to other problems like freezing or crashing apps. When they do happen, it's important not to panic! You can always restart your device and try again if the problem persists after an update has installed itself on your phone or tablet. A variety of different factors can cause the WSoD error. For instance, an Apple device might display this white screen because of the impact of a drop or failure of some hardware components. It may also happen due to operating system problems or various types of freezing up. Sometimes, the user might see a white screen with an Apple logo instead of a simple white screen. Some solutions to this error include reinstalling the operating system, rebooting and fully charging the device. However, many users recommend taking the device to an Apple Store for analysis and repairs. Other technologies where the WSoD error may occur include the WordPress platform, where in some cases, users may see a white screen owing to problems with WordPress operations
