What Is Virtual To Physical (V2P)?
Virtual to physical is taking a virtual machine (VM) and turning it into a physical device. It's also known as Virtual To Physical migration. It will preserve all of the information and data from your VM will maintain all of the information and data from your VM, so you can plug in your new hardware and start using it. The primary goal of V2P is to enable physical machines to host VMs with the same level of performance and availability as before. V2P provides more efficient utilization of biological resources and helps reduce the costs of operating physical machines. It also helps improve the overall reliability of a data center by reducing the reliance on a single physical device. It is achieved by enabling the physical machine to host a VM at any given time and enabling the VM to be shut down and restarted on another physical machine if needed. V2P needs to be implemented with particular considerations to achieve these goals. When your VM needs to be migrated, it's best to leave the task to a third-party tool. V2P is performed by a third-party device external to the VM hypervisor. It follows a systematic approach for a successful migration. It includes verifying the hardware capacity and compatibility with a VM's current configuration; required V2P tools include an operating system (OS) specific utility used to make a VM image, that image transfer tool, and native device drivers for the target physical machine. V2P is just like the OS tool that builds the OS image. Only it's not a tool, and it's a person. Instead of making an image, they're building you a new life—a new home, with new friends and hobbies and a new set of challenges to overcome. It's not just like the OS tool that builds the OS image. It is the OS tool that makes the OS image. We have our software, and we use it to configure your VM hardware settings in line with your destination machine, which means we can ensure everything you need is how you left it before too long.
