What Is Virtual Network Operator (VNO)?
A Virtual Network Operator, or VNO for short, is like the cool kid at school who gets all the best clothes and gadgets from popular brands. Still, a VNO receives access to a wireless network from a bigger, more established telecom company instead of clothes and gadgets. Think of it like a fashion boutique that sells designer clothes from big brands, but instead of clothes, it sells wireless services. The boutique doesn't own the clothes factory, but they have a special deal with the designer to sell their clothes in their store. In the same way, a VNO doesn't own the wireless network infrastructure, but they have a special agreement with a telecom company to resell their wireless services under their brand. This is also known as MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) This is an excellent way for smaller companies to enter the wireless market without investing in building their network infrastructure, which can be super expensive. VNOs are also a good option for companies that want to offer wireless services as part of their package, like cable companies that want to bundle TV, internet, and wireless service all in one. VNOs can also be a good choice for companies targeting a specific niche market, like a company offering wireless services to the elderly. It's important to note that VNOs have different control over the network than the telecom company that owns it. However, they can still offer unique features and pricing plans to differentiate themselves from the competition. In summary, a Virtual Network Operator (VNO) is like a cool kid in school who gets to sell wireless service from a big brand under their brand without having to invest in building their wireless network infrastructure. They are also a good option for companies targeting specific niche markets or bundling with their existing services.
