What Is Torrent?

Torrents are the most efficient way to get your hands on a new Game of Thrones episode. And by "efficient," we mean "not really. "Torrenting is a way for you to download files from other people who have them, but it requires that you get a file called a torrent client, which is just a fancy way of saying "software that downloads files. " Once you've installed it, you can go to sites like The Pirate Bay and search for whatever movie or show or song you want. Then you have to wait and hope your internet connection doesn't go out. If it does, don't worry. You can start the download over again! Ensure your computer has enough space left on its hard drive so the file only takes up a little space. Then again, should you watch what's on cable tonight instead? A torrent file is a metadata file type that primarily stores the URLs of host servers that manage the communication, data transferring, and other protocol-specific administration in file-sharing and downloading. If you still need clarification about what it does, think of it like this: when you load a torrent, you pack a bunch of servers into your computer. The servers then work together to get the stuff you want from others who have it. They don't just get it from other people. They also get it from YOU! So when you download something on BitTorrent, your computer sends bits back to the host server so everyone can have their files simultaneously. That's how it works! A torrent file is a key to downloading your favorite content with BitTorrent. A torrent file contains all the information necessary to download a specific file, including other users who are also downloading that file. A host server or a user can produce these files. When you create one, you should name it something like movie.torrent or [name of show]. Torrent so that other users will know what they're downloading.
