What Is Tech Expense Management Software?
What's the best way to keep your IT budget in check? You could hire an accountant, but that could be more practical. You could have a dedicated person watching your IT purchases (and then you'd have to pay for them). Or, you could find some software that does it for you! IT expense management software is like a security guard for your IT budget. It will watch what you spend and ensure that nobody is paying more than they should. It tracks all your IT purchases and records which authorized those purchases. It's like having a watchdog for your company's money! You can even set the software up to send alerts when something suspicious happens—you'll never have to wonder again if someone is spending too much on their laptop or gaming PC! An organization may use IT expense management software to ensure all budgeted funds are accounted for and used correctly. This software tracks all IT spending and ensures that it is properly authorized. It also monitors how much money is being spent and what department is responsible for a particular expenditure. IT expense management software is IT financial management (ITFM). It increasingly replaces older telecom expense management (TEM), IT asset management, and financial information systems (FIS) software applications. Brighten, Genuity, and Tangoe, among other vendors, are increasingly replacing these applications. This new category of enterprise software has emerged due to technological advances in the telecommunications industry and organizations' increased demand for cost-saving measures. The introduction of cloud telecommunication services such as VoIP has also significantly driven this trend. As a result, companies in this situation need to help recruit new employees and keep them around. They also tend to experience higher turnover rates among existing employees, leading to a loss of institutional knowledge and expertise concerning IT systems. In many cases, this kind of data fragmentation results from an organization's failure to implement robust strategies for managing corporate data across its entire lifecycle—from creation through utilization to disposal (or reclamation).
