What Is Storage Area Network Architecture (SAN Architecture)?
You might think that the term "SAN certificate" is redundant. After all, what does a storage area network need with a certificate? It's a network, of course; it's certified! The truth is, there's a lot more to storage area networks than meets the eye. More than that: there's more to SAN certificates than you might think. A (SAN) certificate is given to a network engineer or IT professional who passed the Storage Networking Industry Association Storage Networking Certificate Program (SNCP) examination. It's different from your average college degree, however. It's more like a formal recognition of your hard work to earn it. It comes with a fancy piece of paper that looks nice in your office next to your other certificates and awards. It also makes you highly qualified and very valuable in the job market—which is great because otherwise, you'd probably just be working at McDonald's until someone finally realizes your potential! We don't want that for you! So if you want to be respected and valued by your peers, get an SNIA SAN certificate today! This diploma indicates that the individual has a solid, vendor-neutral, systems-level knowledge foundation. It is meant to complement and integrate with individual vendor-specific certifications in the networking and storage field. The certification covers topics such as IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, routing protocols, subnetting, addressing and routing, quality of service (quality of service), security, access control lists (ACLs), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), Network Address Translation (NAT) and much more! That's why the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) offers certifications for storage professionals and other IT professionals to help them get up to speed on the latest technologies, concepts, and solutions. The SNIA certification process is administered by a third-party testing company, which determines whether or not candidates have met the exam requirements. If they do, they receive their certificate from the SNIA—now you can prove your knowledge and skill set to employers!
