The fact that this kind of information is being collected without our knowledge or consent raises serious privacy concerns—yet we have no say in whether or not our carriers can do this. Privacy advocates are up in arms over the Carrier IQ scandal, which involves a company collecting performance data on smartphone users. Carrier IQ gathers performance data, tracking and logging what users do on their phones. This can include calls made, texts sent, and emails received. While this is not necessarily an invasion of privacy in terms of content (e.g., Carrier IQ does not have access to the actual content of phone calls), it does present a risk to user privacy because it allows third parties access to information about whom you called or texted, whether you're using your phone to browse the web or send emails, etc. The issue came to light when reports revealed that Carrier IQ had collected information about users' phone activity without their knowledge or consent. Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)

How much does your data center cost? You might be surprised. Power usage effectiveness is used to rule energy efficiency measurements. It's calculated by comparing the total power a data center uses to the actual power delivered to a computing device. A group of members developed this ratio from an association called The Green Grid, which primarily focuses on data center energy efficiency. The total infrastructure power is the power entering a data center, measured at the utility meter. The full IT equipment power is used to run the computer equipment within the facility. Both are measured in kilowatts: Total Infrastructure Power / Total IT Equipment Power = PUE. The PUE is the predominant metric used for measuring data center efficiency. PUE has gained massive popularity recently, becoming a widely used metric for measuring energy efficiency. A PUE of 1 means that all of the power entering your data center is being consumed by IT equipment. A PUE of 2 means that half of your energy will cool other non-IT equipment, while a PUE of 3 means that 75% of your power is consumed by non-IT equipment. PUE measures the heat generated by electronics and how much heat needs to be removed from the data center to keep those electronics from overheating. It compares the total amount of equipment in a building with the electricity required to run those devices. Suppose you want to increase your organization's efficiency or decrease its carbon footprint. In that case, knowing how efficiently your systems are operating and what areas can benefit from improvement is essential. PUE is the power usage effectiveness metric, and it's a pretty important one. PUE measures how efficiently you're using your data center's power. The higher the PUE, the less efficient your data center's energy consumption is. In other words, if you have a PUE of 1, your facility uses as much power as it needs to run its IT equipment—no more, no less. If you have a PUE of 2, half of your facility's total power consumption goes toward running IT equipment.

In computer architecture, memory is often used to describe the location of computer hardware, such as CPU registers or the cache. Memory can be either external or internal to a computer system. You may think that RAM and generic storage memory are the same. If you're a computer, that's not even close to being the case. RAM is like a sponge, the kind of memory that holds on tightly to whatever it's been given and then releases it when you ask. It can't be overwritten or changed. It holds on and keeps holding on until you ask for something else. It's like a truck driver who only knows one route (but goes fast!). Generic storage memory?
