What Is Inductor?
In electricity, an inductor is a passive part made of a coil of wire, usually copper, that stores energy in a magnetic field. A magnetic field is made around the wire when electricity flows through it. The wire's magnetic field will be stronger, and it will be able to store more energy the more turns it has. Imagine it as a spring. When you lengthen a spring, you put energy into it. The spring sends that energy out into the world when you let go. An inductor works the same way, but instead of a spring, it uses a magnetic field to store energy. Inductors are used in many electrical circuits, such as power supplies, transformers, and filters. An inductor helps control the flow of electricity in a power supply by storing energy when there's too much and releasing it when there's not enough. This helps make sure that there is always enough electricity. An inductor moves electricity from one circuit to another in a transformer. For example, you might use a transformer to boost the voltage of an electrical signal so it can travel a long distance, like from a power plant to your home. The inductor stores energy in the magnetic field and releases it in the secondary circuit. This moves energy from one circuit to the other. In a filter, an inductor helps separate electrical signals with different frequencies. For instance, you could use a filter to eliminate noise in an audio signal. The inductor stores energy in the magnetic field, making a high-pass filter that blocks low-frequency signals but lets high-frequency signals through. In short, an inductor is a passive part that uses a magnetic field to store energy. It can control the flow of electricity, move energy from one circuit to another, and filter different frequencies of signals. So, the next time you use an electronic device, remember the inductor and its amazing abilities.
