What Is Hosted Desktop?
So you're thinking about getting a hosted desktop? You're not alone. Hosted desktops are all the rage, and for a good reason. They have all the functionality you'd expect from a physical desktop—from applications to operating systems to data storage—but they're hosted remotely, so you don't have to worry about maintaining your servers or securing them against cyber attacks. Hosted desktops are also easy to access; you can use them on any device with a browser or thin client utility, including smartphones and tablets. And they're secure; they use multi-factor authentication and other advanced methods to protect your data from hackers. How does it work? It's simple! Your data is stored on a server somewhere else in the world (we'll get into how exactly later), and when you log in, your computer connects over the Internet and retrieves everything it needs right then and there. Suppose something changes on your computer, like installing new software, adding an app, or changing some settings. In that case, those changes will sync up with the server automatically so everything stays in harmony between computers. Another advantage is that you don't need to install or configure any software or hardware on the remote location; you can access it from any device through a virtual private network connection. The technology behind hosted desktops can be either cloud-based or software-based. In the cloud-based solution, a virtual machine is installed on a cloud server, and the client connects to the virtual machine over a network connection. A client computer must have remote desktop software in the software-based solution. It's also great for companies that need to provide multiple users with access to applications that run on different operating systems or platforms (for example, Macs and PCs). You can just rent out a hosted desktop from an online service provider and let them worry about managing all those different platforms for you.If this sounds like something you'd be interested in trying out for yourself or your business
