What Is Hosted Customer Relationship Management (Hosted CRM)?
You know what they say: you can never be too rich or too thin. But you can be too busy. And if you're a small business owner trying to juggle customers, invoices, and everything else that comes with running your own business, you're probably feeling pretty overwhelmed. That's where hosted customer relationship management (hosted CRM) comes in—it's a delivery mode of CRM software that is accessed over the Internet, either directly from the vendor or through a third-party service provider. Hosted CRM is entirely deployed, hosted and managed on remote infrastructure and is available as a service to end-users or customers. For most customers, the most significant advantage of hosted CRM is that it requires no upfront capital investment. The benefit for suppliers is that it reduces the up-front costs and time involved in developing and maintaining the software needed for on-premises deployment. All functions are outsourced to a vendor's server, and the vendor is responsible for ongoing maintenance and upgrades. It benefits both parties: Suppliers don't spend time and money upgrading and maintaining the software, and customers don't have to worry about hosting the software on their servers or third-party hosting providers. A hosted CRM is the best of both worlds: it's a cloud computing solution that requires no upfront installation and server hardware infrastructure for the end user. It provides all of the functionality and services you'd expect from traditional in-house CRM software. The end users/customers access hosted CRM on an on-demand basis and are billed monthly for each licensed user. The hosted CRM vendor is responsible for the back-end computing infrastructure, availability, maintenance and upgrade of the CRM. The beauty of a hosted CRM is that it's not just hosted. It's also CRM. It's like bringing your own CRM to a party but not having to get your computer and then having to deal with the hassle of finding a place to plug in the said computer and make sure you don't leave it behind.
