What Is GovCloud?
The Government Cloud is coming, and it will be a powerhouse. Let us tell you how. It's all-encompassing, everywhere, and wants to make your life easier or at least that's what we're telling ourselves when we sleep at night. The GovCloud initiative is an international effort to develop cloud computing and virtualization products and solutions specifically for government organizations and institutions. We're talking about anything from data encryption to data management, all the stuff that keeps your sensitive info safe in a world where hackers lurk around every corner. GovCloud takes a holistic approach to cloud security by covering every aspect of ensuring that your data is secure: from certification standards for hardware vendors to best practices for managing passwords with their encryption algorithm. GovCloud is a movement. A movement is sweeping across the globe and gaining speed by the day. The prime objective of all these movements, in countries big and small, is to provide a framework and set of guidelines for sourcing and deploying cloud computing solutions for governments and their controlled authorities. With so much happening in such a short period, some may wonder what GovCloud is. Perhaps more importantly, why it's happening now. The answer: GovCloud is an initiative to provide governments with a way to ensure that they are adequately prepared for the future of technology. In recent years, there has been an explosion of innovation in this space, from creating new types of hardware and software to new ways of thinking about how we use these tools to achieve our goals as individuals, organizations and societies at large. Unfortunately, not all governments have managed this transition well enough to keep up with these changes or even keep pace with their citizens' expectations regarding what services should look like moving forward (if at all).
