What Is Enterprise Security Intelligence (ESI)?
The very hottest job in town right now is security intelligence. We're not talking about Google search results but information that keeps you safe from cybercriminals. In an age of constant connectivity and digital threats, it is one of your most important things because it keeps your business running smoothly and safely. The term "enterprise security intelligence" (ESI) refers to a theory that proposes that business intelligence may be considered a subset of enterprise security. Security data can help firms combat cybercrime and manage risk. Enterprise security intelligence is a holistic approach to cybersecurity that leverages new technologies such as big data and software solutions. A network has to have numerous levels of security to be really safe. These layers should include anti-virus and anti-malware systems on the network's perimeter, as well as firewall solutions that protect inside systems from threats originating from the outside. But even if your company has these fundamental safeguards in place, there are still opportunities for hackers and other cybercriminals to penetrate your network and steal data. For instance, if you do not have a solution such as ESI that scans all data while it is in transit and at rest, hackers may obtain critical information such as customer identification or trademark secrets before the material is encrypted and transferred over the internet. ESI may also assist businesses in identifying which customers are consuming an excessive amount of bandwidth or determining whether or not a certain device is the source of any odd spikes in data consumption. This information may be helpful to IT professionals in adjusting their policies so that they do not wind up paying more than they need to on monthly bills or having to replace their equipment before it is required to do so.
