The e-book is the new book, and the e-pub is the new file format. An electronic publication (EPUB) is an e-book file format with the extension of .epub. Electronic publications can be downloaded and read using smartphones, tablets, e-readers and computers. With this technology, you can download books directly to your device or computer and read them on your schedule without having to go to a bookstore or library. You can also search for titles online, so if you're looking for something specific but need to know precisely what it's called or how to spell it, you can find the exact thing you want in seconds! The ability to download books directly onto your device makes it easy to take them with you wherever you go, whether on vacation or just around town. You can take advantage of free Wi-Fi at coffee shops or public transportation to read all day long without carrying heavy paperbacks around with you everywhere! EPUB is not just a format for eBooks. It's also a standard for publishing documents and open-source projects. The International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) developed EPUB, which packages and distributes content across different platforms. EPUB replaced Open eBook, the standard, in 2007 when IDPF published its version of EPUB. EPUB 3 is the latest format version and has been endorsed by the Book Industry Study Group (BIG), an industry organization representing publishers in North America. BIG backs EPUB 3 as the official format for packaging content, but Amazon Kindle or any other major platform does not currently use it. EPUB has always been a format for distributing and interchanging documents and digital publications based on web standards. Since it was created in 2004, long before the advent of modern smartphones, so what is it, exactly? EPUB is short for electronic publication: it's an open standard that lets publishers distribute their content to readers in a way that's compatible with all sorts of devices. In the mid-2000s, SIP became widely accepted as a corporate video and voice communications standard. However, there are several corporate environments where the usage of H.323 products is still preferred over SIP.
