The DVB-S2 standard provides specifications for delivering high-definition and ultra-high-definition television (HDTV and UHDTV) video and audio over satellite and cable networks in the form of a standardized "satellite box" or set-top box or a high-end residential gateway. The standard is designed to be extensible to deliver new services such as 3G/ LTE mobile, IPTV, and OTT content. The DVB-S2 standard was ratified by the ETSI in March 2005 and published in October of that year. It states that no matter how hard you try in a distributed computer system, you can only have three guarantees: consistency, availability or partition tolerance. The CAP theorem states that a system must choose between these three properties as it cannot have all three simultaneously. In distributed systems, the loss of consistency is usually more critical than the loss of availability or partition tolerance. The theorem, also known as Brewer's theorem, basically says you can't have a distributed computer system that simultaneously provides all three of consistency, availability and partition tolerance at optimal levels. Significant efforts are put into designing consistent systems. Therefore, depending on the requirements, developers must choose the right combination of these three traits for their strategies. It is an idea outlining the limits of distributed computing. It states that one must sacrifice either character or availability to have less than 100% network partition tolerance. As networks become more extensive (or other criteria more stringent), this must increasingly become so. It is the heart of computer science. It's not just a set of letters like ABC or DEF. CAP covers the rules for ensuring that your data is consistent and up to date, no matter which node currently hosts it. If you have a copy of a piece of data on your computer, are you sure everyone else has the same version? Paraphrasing CAP Theorem expert Terry Halpin: If you can't guarantee C (Consistency) or A (Availability), then your database is providing P (Partial) availability or consistency when measured against its stated intent. Imagine it as your cupboard in the kitchen. You store your most frequently used ingredients there, so you won't have to dash to the store every few minutes when you're busy cooking. Similar to that, but for your Processor, it is cache. It keeps track of frequently used information so the CPU can quickly access it without searching the computer's primary memory. "External Cache" now refers to a cache not housed on the same chip as the CPU. Instead, it is typically located on a different motherboard chip near enough to the CPU to enable quick and effective communication between the two. Because the cache doesn't have to contend with the CPU for space on the same chip, this configuration has advantages, such as enabling larger cache sizes. First, why even deal with External Cache? Consider yourself a CPU that needs to locate some info. The main memory is where you begin your quest, but it takes time to sort through the information because there is so much of it. Every time you required something, you would have to do that, which would cause you to become very slow. Cache enters the picture here. The CPU can access the data much more rapidly than it can the main memory because it acts as a shortcut to the information you need. External Storage goes a step further in this. The CPU can access commonly used data even more quickly when stored on a separate chip than Cache, which is also on the same chip. It's similar to having a second pantry next to your kitchen filled with all the items you use the most frequently. Of course, a few technological aspects are necessary for External Cache to function. Since it is typically implemented as a form of volatile Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), it requires electricity to maintain its stored contents. Additionally, it's typically divided into levels, with Level 1 (L1) Cache being the nearest to and fastest at the CPU and Level 2 (L2) Cache being a little farther away and a little slower. Technical specifics aside, it's crucial to remember that External Cache enables your CPU to locate the data it requires more quickly and effectively than it could on its own. It's similar to having an extremely quick and witty assistant who can predict your requirements and prepare everything before you ask. Thyristor

If you're familiar with the basics of electronics, you've probably heard of a thyristor. A thyristor is a solid-state and four-layered semiconductor used in electronic devices and equipment to control electrical power or current output through a phase angle control technique. A thyristor works by regulating the flow of electricity through a circuit. In other words, it's like an automatic switch that lets electricity pass freely through when the voltage is low and closes when the voltage increases. There are different types of thyristors, but they all work on the same principle: they allow current to flow through them until a specific voltage is reached, at which point they begin blocking the flow and preventing any more current from coming through. Thyristors are commonly used in applications where precise control over power is needed, such as heaters or motors. Do you know what a thyristor is? You should because they're the essential part of your computer. They're the ones that take your tiny little inputs and turn them into massive, bulky outputs. Without them, you'd have to throw away all your electronics and use a typewriter. Thyristors are composed of four layers: one layer of N-type material, one layer of P-type material, and two logic gates. When a current is applied at the gate, it connects the anode and cathode so an amplified current can flow from the anode to the cathode. When it comes to thyristors, there are three distinct operating modes to consider. These modes include reverse blocking, forward blocking, and forward conducting. In reverse blocking mode, the thyristor effectively blocks current flow in either direction. This means no current can pass through the transistor, regardless of its direction. On the other hand, forward blocking mode only allows current to flow in one direction while actively blocking it from flowing in the opposite direction. Finally, the forward conducting mode allows current to flow in both directions through the transistor. Understanding these different modes of operation is critical for ensuring that thyristors are used effectively and efficiently in various applications.
