Cyprus: TotalEnergies Announces The Positive Assessment Of The Cronos Gas Discovery On Block 6

TotalEnergies (Paris:TTE) (LSE:TTE) (NYSE:TTE) announces that drilling and production testing operations carried out on the Cronos-2 appraisal well, located on Block 6, offshore Cyprus, have been successfully finalized. TotalEnergies holds a 50% stake in Block 6, alongside Eni (50%, operator).

The Cronos-2 well confirmed the lateral extension of the Cronos-1 gas discovery, the well of which was drilled in August 2022.

Located approximately 160 km southwest of the Cypriot coast, Cronos-2 encountered several carbonate reservoir intervals with a net reservoir thickness of 115 meters. The production test confirmed excellent production potential of the well.

Two other discoveries, Calypso-1 and Zeus-1, were made on the same Block, in 2018 and 2022 respectively.

“The conclusive assessment of the Cronos gas discovery confirms the presence of significant resources and the production potential of Block 6. The discovered resources will now be subject to a full evaluation in order to determine the best development option for contribute to the gas supply of Europe and the region,” declared J ulien Pouget, Middle East and North Africa Director of the Exploration-Production branch of TotalEnergies.

In Cyprus, TotalEnergies is also present in offshore blocks 11 (50%, operator), 7 (50%, operator), 2 (20%), 3 (30%), 8 (40%) and 9 (20%) .
