What Is Wireless Mesh Network (WMN)?
The WiFi you know and love is about to get much better. Wireless mesh networks are the next step in wireless technology. They're here to make your life easier. With traditional WiFi, you must be within reach of your router's signal for it to work. If your router doesn't have a strong enough password or someone accidentally turns it off, you can't connect anymore. Wireless mesh networks are different. That means your connection will still be live if some part of the network has power and is turned on. When isn't one hop available? Try to reroute the data through another one! In traditional networking, things slow down when there's much traffic on a network. It can be like crossing a river on foot—if too many people try to do it at once, they'll all get stuck waiting in line. Mesh networking is more like making a footbridge out of rocks. Mesh networks are not easily implemented as a physical topology, but they are more common as a wireless network, given that cables cost money. The more people must cross at once.
