What Is Virtual Reality (VR)?
Imagine this situation where you're sitting in your living room but feel like you're also sitting on the beach. The sun is happily beating down on your skin instead of turning red and stinging as it would in real life because this isn't real life. You're wearing a VR headset feeding your brain with information about the sun's heat, how salty the air smells, and how nice it feels to feel sand between your toes. You could watch a movie and experience what it feels like to be somewhere else, but virtual reality allows you to interact with that place. You could even walk around there and explore! If you wanted to go swimming in that ocean, you could put on water wings and flippers and do it right in front of your computer screen. It sounds crazy, but it's not! And that's why every company is trying to get their hands on this technology. Virtual reality is a technology that allows users to interact with digital environments as if they were real ones. The purpose of VR is to enable a person to experience and manipulate the background as if it were the real world. In contrast, augmented reality (AR) is a technology that seamlessly integrates digital information into the user's real-world environment. A computer provides significant sensory stimuli for experiencing a given virtual reality environment, and the virtual visitor's actions may also have an impact on what occurs in the digital recreational environment. In the current stage of development, users have to interact positively with this type of artificial environment by wearing a VR headset or haptic glove. As technology improves, virtual reality is expected to play an essential technical role in creating immersive metaverse experiences. There are two more things you must know regarding VR Depth of Information: This Refers to the quality and amount of data fed by the virtual environment. Dr. Steuer believed this could be achieved through display resolution, graphics quality, sound quality, haptic feedback and complexity of the domain. The breadth of Information: points to how many senses are stimulated by the virtual environment. As per Dr. Steuer, the most basic of these should be audio and visual, while advanced systems must also include stimulation of all five senses to enhance immersion.
