What Is Telephone Number Mapping (ENUM)?
Why is it so easy to make a phone call to someone on the other side of the world? It is fascinating as there is a little bit of magic involved. We are kidding, of course. It's because of the magic of A telephone number being converted into an IP address using ENUM, an IETF standard for mapping public switched telephone networks (PSTNs) in DNS. ENUM is the protocol via which a telephone number is mapped as an IP address, making the Internet accessible through a telephone number. . It's like having a fancy phone with all sorts of special features but only being able to use them in one room, and then magically being able to use those same features in every room in your house! If you've ever wanted to be capable of calling someone with a phone number that looks like this: +1-415-935-3143 and have it connect you to the person with that number, then you're in luck! So now you can. Makes it easy for users to register their phone numbers for ENUM, much like registering for a domain. Once registered, your number will be available across multiple networks and carriers, so even if one network is down or busy, there will always be another route for your call. ENUM allows users to select a country code level from the E164.arpa domain. It consists of user ENUM, the original aspect of ENUM, and private ENUM, which ISPs and VoIP service providers use for internal purposes. carrier ENUM is used when service providers mutually agree to share user information. Whether you're an ISP or VoIP provider who wants to offer better connectivity options to your customers, whether you're an individual user who wants more flexibility when making calls, or whether you're an enterprise looking for a more straightforward way
