What Is Private Network?

When you hear the word "private," what comes to mind? It could be a gated community or an invitation-only event. Perhaps it's just an excellent way to say "no." when we talk about private networks in the context of networking, we're talking about something else entirely: The ability to control who gets into your network and how they can access it. A private network is any connection within a specified network wherein restrictions are established to promote a secured environment. This type of network can be configured so that devices outside the network cannot access it. Only a selected set of devices can access this type of network depending on the settings encoded in the network routers and access points. On the other hand, a public network is defined as a network that anyone can freely connect to with little or no restriction. It is common knowledge that we live in an age where information is power, and people are increasingly becoming more aware of their privacy rights. As such, there is an increasing demand for secure networks to protect sensitive data from being leaked by third parties who may want to use it for malicious purposes. Many companies have begun implementing private networks to avoid sharing confidential information with unauthorized users. The difference between private and public networks is more than just who has access to them. A private network is a usage designation, while a public network is a topology type. The two are similar in terms of hardware technology and infrastructure. How access rights and security measures are set up makes them what they are. The words "public" and "private" denote who can and cannot use the network: public networks are open to everyone, while private ones are only accessible to select individuals. Setting up a private network can be challenging because of all the security measures and access restrictions that need to be put in place; sometimes, even extra hardware not required on public networks may be used on private ones.
