What Is Memory Leak?
What is a memory leak? A memory leak is like a perfect cup of coffee. You might not even notice it for a while, but once you do, you can't stop drinking it! A memory leak is a process in which a program or application persistently retains a computer's primary memory. The resident memory program does not return or release allocated memory space, even after execution. While this may seem like a problem, it's pretty standard, especially in applications that use a lot of RAM. When you're using an application with a lot of RAM usage, your computer tends to slow down and become unresponsive as it tries to handle all the data thrown at it. It is because your computer has limited resources to allocate to running applications at once. If one application is using up more than its fair share of those resources, other programs will have trouble getting what they need and worse yet, they might crash due to lack of memory! So, if you notice that your computer is running slower than usual and becoming unresponsive when running any particular app, check out its RAM usage. Is it high enough that it's affecting other apps' performance? Close that app and try again later (or maybe even reboot). Memory leaks can be a real pain in the butt. Leaking memory is like having water coming through your roof and dripping down your walls, but it's not water: it's your computer's memory. You probably don't have a roofer on speed dial. So, what is a memory leak? It's basically when an application or program holds onto its memory space for too long, even after it doesn't need it anymore. For example, when you're playing a game on your phone and then put it down for a while, that game should release its memory so that other apps can access it. Sometimes they don't! Then, suddenly, you have no more space to store anything new, which makes things go from bad to worse quickly.
