What Is Kindle?
You're in the middle of a great book, but you've got to go somewhere. But where? You can't leave your novel unfinished—it's just not right. So what do you do? If you have a Kindle, take it with you! The Kindle is an electronic reader that allows users to download and read digital books, magazines, blogs and newspapers on the go. Kindle mimics reading on paper using electronic documents and E Ink to display up to 16-level grayscale. It was developed in November 2007 by Lab126, Inc., a small subsidiary of Amazon. com. Amazon's Kindle app has been an enormous success, allowing users to read all their favorite e-books on their computers, iPhones, iPods and other mobile devices. Now they can even read them on their iPads. The iPad is one of the most successful tablets ever released, but it wasn't designed to work with Amazon's Kindle app—until now! Amazon has just released a version of its Kindle app that works with Apple tablet computers. The new app means that users can now read their favorite e-books on their iPads without paying extra for an app or an internet connection. The new Kindle app for iPad is free from the App Store in most countries worldwide. It was 2007, and the world was a different place. We were still waiting for our first taste of the iPhone, and our phones were still just phones. We didn't have laptops, let alone tablets or e-readers. And there was no such thing as an Amazon Prime membership—we were still getting around to ordering stuff from "the internet." And then… the Kindle changed everything. It was the first e-reader to hit the market in late 2007 and sold out within hours of release. It was priced at $399 and had 250 MB of internal memory and a 4-level grayscale display. The original Kindle could hold approximately 200 non-illustrated titles that can be downloaded from Amazon (and more than 125,000 titles are available today). So Whenever you're stuck in a waiting room or want something to do while traveling on business, grab your Kindle! It's lightweight and easy to take with you wherever you go.
