What Is Intelligent Network Application Part (INAP)?
A signaling protocol is an intelligent network application component or part (INAP) in smart networks. This protocol is a part of the more extensive suite of protocols known as Signaling System 7 (SS7), which is used to signal and manage communications networks. Simply put, an intelligent network is a more sophisticated form of communications network than conventional telephone systems offer. It makes it possible to provide deluxe features like call forwarding, call waiting, and messages to customers. The Intelligent Network Access part (INAP) is how such high-level services can be administered and regulated. The telecommunications network's SS7 layer handles call transmission and management. It is the foundation upon which INAP is constructed, and it is used to manage the more complex features of the intelligent network. It means that after a service has been transferred from an older service switching point (SSP) to one of the newer, computer-based service platforms, INAP must handle the logic and data associated with the transfer. Let's look at an illustration to see how this works. When you dial a phone number, it must travel through several networks and relays before it reaches the intended recipient. These switches in older telephone networks were relatively rudimentary and could only perform the most fundamental call-routing functions. On the other hand, intelligent networks have more sophisticated switches that can manage features like call waiting and messages. The INAP protocol enables the management and supervision of these services. In that case, why is INAP so crucial? Well, it would be much harder to provide the sophisticated services that customers have come to anticipate from today's telecommunications networks if not for INAP. Thanks to INAP, managing and exerting precise control over these services is now feasible. Intelligent networking relies on a signaling system, and INAPs are what that protocol is called. It facilitates the provision of more sophisticated services to end users. It is responsible for the logic and administration of telecommunication services after transitioning from legacy service switching points (SSP) to modern digital service platforms. INAP has become an integral part of today's telecommunications infrastructure to provide the high-end services customers anticipate.
