What Is Great Firewall of China (GFW)?
Have you ever wondered why your favorite websites are blocked in China? Dont, tell us you haven't wondered about that! It's not just because the Chinese government doesn't want you to see what's happening in their country. It's also because they want to prevent you from seeing what's happening in other countries, especially the United States. And that's where the Great Firewall comes in. G FW is a term used to refer to the infrastructure of the Chinese leadership in controlling web traffic within the country. It is a play on words based on the renowned Great Wall of China, the massive structure built to protect the Northern edges of the kingdom from invaders. The Great Firewall has been in effect since 2002 when it was first implemented to reduce internet access among citizens. The government's reasoning behind this decision was to prevent people from accessing information that might "harm state security and social stability."Since then, they have made several updates and adjustments to how it works. For example, they have added new censorship methods such as keyword filtering and URL blocking. They also made changes so that you can't download VPNs anymore (previously allowed). Another reason why this firewall exists is because of concerns about people using illegal platforms like Facebook or Twitter for communication purposes. Which could lead them into trouble if discovered by authorities such as police or military officials who monitor all online activity users do within China's borders). The Great Firewall of China may be the most famous example of national protectionism regarding the Internet. It's so vast and all-encompassing that it's almost impossible to imagine how the Internet would function without it. The Great Firewall is a radical departure from how the web is regulated in most other parts of the world.
