What Is Flame Virus?
There's a new virus in town, and it's on the prowl. Don't you believe us? It was so fast that it spread like wildfire and was not easy to contain. Let us tell you a bit more, and you will understand what we are discussing. The Flame virus, created by Russian security company Kaspersky Labs, is a malicious program that targets government systems in the Middle East, especially Iran. This lethal program reportedly has a code base 20 times larger than Stuxnet, a malicious computer worm that sabotaged Iran's nuclear facilities. Flame is thought to be exclusively intended to steal classified information from its victims. Kaspersky has warned that Flame can do far more than steal data: it can also turn on microphones and cameras on infected machines to spy on users' conversations and activities, even offline! The researchers at Kaspersky Lab have called this "stealth espionage" because the program does not leave traces of its action on computers or hard drives. Flame's creators have also made it difficult for antivirus programs to detect this malware by using various techniques such as encryption, self-destruction mechanisms and polymorphism - changing the signature of each file every time they download a new version from their command server. Flame is like a spy who can be seen from miles away. It's also like a spy trained by people who have been spying for decades. It's also like a spy that can get into your house, turn on your computer speakers to hear EVERYTHING YOU SAY, and then switch off the speakers so no one else can listen to what you're saying. It's also like a spy that can jump out of your computer screen and make you drop to the floor and scream because it is so natural and scary!
