What Is Electronic Card (e-Card)?
Electronic cards (e-Cards) are the new way to say "Happy Birthday!" Electronic cards are the way to go when you want to send someone a birthday greeting that's a little more special than just another email. You can choose from various backgrounds that go from simple and serene to wild and wacky and add text in any font—even scriptwriting! You can even make your message animated with some of our proprietary animations. You'll have so much fun creating your e-card that you'll forget about sending it—but don't! Sending an e-card is easy: you only need an internet connection and a few minutes. It all started with a group of MIT students sitting around the mid-90s, wondering how they could have virtual cards without sending them. So they created The Electronic Postcard, a website where users could make cards and send them to friends. The cards were an instant hit—the first summer resulted in up to 2,000 cards per day. The 1995/1996 Christmas season saw days where up to 19,000 cards were sent. By late spring of 1997, 1.7 million were electronically distributed. That same year a paper greeting card company called Blue Mountain began creating virtual cards. The company was sold to Excite@Home in 1999 for $780 million. The Cable News Network and Business 2.0 cited this as evidence of the beginning of the so-called dot-com bubble. After a bankruptcy by Excite@Home, Blue Mountain was sold to American Greetings for $35 million. Today among many others, Blue Mountain remains as a significant, large website devoted chiefly to virtual cards." With an E-card, you can send your message of love to all sorts of people, and they'll be able to see it on their phones, tablets, and computers—even if they don't have a physical card. And since nothing gets thrown away in digital form (and they're easier on the environment), this is even better if you're looking to save paper and cut down on waste. Additionally, E-cards come with many customization options—you can change the color of the text and add emojis or images to make it more fun and unique!
