It became a symbol of the company's principles and a rallying cry for those who believed in the potential of technology to make the world a better place. To speak in more specific terms, "Don't Be Evil" can be seen as an ethical framework for technology firms, which places the needs of users and society as a whole at the forefront of its considerations. It encourages businesses to evaluate the immediate financial benefits of their activities and the effects such actions will have in the longer term. Whether or not Google has lived up to its "Don't Be Evil" motto may be debated until the cows come home. However, the concept it was based on still applies in the modern world, particularly as an increasing number of people are becoming conscious of digital firms' power and influence.
