What Is Browser Helper Object (BHO)?

Do you know what's better than a PDF file? A PDF file that can download itself and automatically open whenever you open Internet Explorer. Browser Helper Objects (BHO) are the answer to all your browser needs, and they can do much more. BHOs are a type of plug-in for Internet Explorer. They are written in C++ and can be used to add new features to your browser. For example, a BHO might allow you to view PDF files without having any special software installed on your computer. It also lets you add toolbars or extensions to your browser. The best part is that they're straightforward to use! Download this detailed file and follow these simple steps: Copy it into an empty folder on your hard drive, Open Windows Explorer and drag the file from the folder onto your desktop or anywhere else on your machine. When you restart the computer later today, it won't be deleted by mistake. May use browser helpers to add new functionality to an existing application or website or can use them to create stand-alone applications. Browser helpers are written in C or C++ and compiled into DLLs. After that, they are registered with the operating system and can be called from any application using function pointers. In the early days of the Internet, when there were only three browsers (Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla), and all of them were terrible, BHOs were developed. BHOs are an extension installed in the browser to provide extra functionality. They are implemented as an ActiveX control, which means they can use in any browser that supports ActiveX controls (like Internet Explorer). That's why you can still find BHOs on websites even though Flash is falling out of use and Microsoft itself discontinued the development of IE in favor of Edge. Some significant plug-ins implemented as BHOs include Adobe Reader and the Alexa toolbar.
