What Is Bootkit?
If you think your computer is safe, think again. A bootkit is a rootkit that can access the master boot record, giving it access to the entire system and achieving various malicious aims. A rootkit is a collection of software components that enables users to access off-limits areas of a computer or device. As such, cybercriminals typically use it to gain unauthorized access and control over systems. A bootkit goes one step further: It allows someone with malicious intentions to not only infiltrate your design but also to manipulate it from within to remain undetected. As a dangerous bootkit, the bootkit can disable the system's ability to boot or start up. The bootkit can also launch attacks against the operating system and cause various system vulnerabilities. Moreover, if the bootkit installation is not detected or removed, it can cause multiple system issues like freezing, slowdowns, and other problems. A bootkit is malicious software that Can be installed on a system. It can be installed on the system's hard drive, removable media drive, or other methods. The bootkit can access the master boot record when installed on a system. It is the first area of the hard drive that the operating system loads when it starts. If you've ever seen a movie, you might have heard the phrase, "Don't cross the streams." That references Ghostbusters, in which two characters accidentally create a mighty, destructive force when they combine their proton beams. What if I told you that there was a way for malware hackers to combine their bootkits to create something even more dangerous?
