What Is Agile Retrospective?
Agile retrospectives are like a giant, fun game of Would you rather? Where you learn what works and doesn't work in your team's processes. With these sessions, you can figure out whether or not a process is working for your team and make adjustments accordingly. For example, let's say you've been using agile development processes for a while but notice that your team needs more done because they need help to stay on track. In this case, an agile retrospective might help identify ways to improve how the team works together so that everyone is on the same page with their tasks and responsibilities from start to finish, or you've been using agile development processes for some time now and noticed that the project takes longer than expected each time. This could be due to scope creep or feature creep, two common issues when working with agile projects (especially if there needs to be more oversight). A retrospective might help identify ways to mitigate these issues in future projects by offering suggestions like starting small or ensuring everyone knows what they're building before moving forward. Agile retrospectives are super important because they help us reflect and improve our development processes. They help us identify problems, improve, and have fun! What happens when you need to get all of the right people involved? Well, you end up with a meeting that doesn't accomplish its objective, So, we all know how much you like to achieve goals and you need to ensure that everyone is at your agile retrospective, regardless of whether or not they contributed directly to the project or product being reviewed. For example, if someone from another team worked closely with you on portions of the project, make sure they know about it and can attend so they can contribute their insight into what drove well and what could be improved next time.
