Deepinder Goyal's Temple Wearable Opens ₹85,000 Pre-Orders, Claims Better Accuracy Than Apple Watch
Updated on Tue, Nov 3, 2026
Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal's Temple wearable is officially available for pre-order, and its ₹85,000 price tag isn't the only thing raising eyebrows.
The head-worn health tracker promises advanced physiological monitoring, while an internal study suggests it can measure heart rates more accurately than competing devices from Apple, Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP, and Oura.
However, independent validation is still underway, leaving potential buyers with an expensive decision to make.
TL;DR
- Deepinder Goyal-backed Temple has opened pre-orders in India at a listed price of ₹85,000.
- The wearable monitors cerebral blood flow, brain oxygenation, and physiological metrics linked to fitness and recovery.
- An internal study involving 43 participants reported lower heart-rate measurement errors than five competing wearables.
- Deliveries are expected within approximately three months, with refunds available before shipment.
Temple Wearable Pre-Orders Open In India At ₹85,000
Temple's pre-order window opened on November 1, 2026, at 9:30 PM IST, allowing customers in India to reserve the device through the Temple website or its companion application, available on Android and iOS.
The app lets buyers select their preferred device, choose the quantity, enter shipping information, and provide optional GSTIN details.
While the listed Indian price stands at ₹85,000, the initial app listing did not explicitly clarify whether the amount represented the full purchase price or a booking payment. Subsequent reporting describes ₹85,000 as the device's package price.
Each unit is handmade to order, with deliveries expected in approximately three months and initial shipments targeted for early 2027.
Customers can also request refunds until their devices ship.
Temple Wearable Features BrainFlow Monitoring And Lifetime Software Access
Unlike conventional wrist-based trackers, Temple attaches to the side of the head using medical-grade adhesive grips.
Its central feature, BrainFlow, measures cerebral blood flow, while the device also tracks brain oxygenation and other physiological indicators associated with exercise, stress, recovery, and overall wellness.
The ₹85,000 package reportedly includes a charging pod offering up to 25 days of reserve charge, a lifetime supply of adhesive grips, ongoing access to the companion application's metrics without recurring subscription fees, and personalized onboarding.
Temple Care also provides lifetime hardware replacement coverage for a nominal service fee.
Buyers can choose from six finishes: True Gold, Rose Gold, Dark Mirror, Deep Blue, Real Jade, and Purple Funk.
The device adds another approach to wearable health monitoring, where companies are increasingly exploring alternatives to conventional smartwatch designs.
Temple's Internal Study Reports Higher Heart-Rate Accuracy Than Apple Watch
Temple's biggest selling point may be its reported measurement accuracy.
An internal validation study tested 43 participants during progressively demanding treadmill exercises, covering rest and heart-rate Zones 1 through 5.
The researchers compared Temple against five wearables, using a Polar H10 ECG chest strap as the primary reference.
Temple reported a mean absolute heart-rate error of 1.18 beats per minute (bpm), compared with 1.94 bpm for the Apple Watch Series 12 and 5.21 bpm for the Oura Ring 5. Lower values indicate smaller measurement errors.
Temple's reported error dropped to 1.16 bpm during high-intensity Zones 4 and 5, reaching 0.95 bpm in Zone 5.
The study attributed this performance to sensor placement near the superficial temporal artery, potentially reducing movement-related measurement interference.
However, these figures come from company-led testing. They do not establish that Temple consistently outperforms competing devices in independent assessments or across every health metric.
Goyal acknowledged the need for further scrutiny, stating: "More independent validations are underway. Skeptics are urged to wait before buying."

Temple Wearable Delivery And Return Policy Remain Key Buyer Considerations
While buyers can cancel before shipment, Temple's post-delivery return arrangements remain under consideration.
Goyal has indicated that the existing 14-day, no-questions-asked return policy in India could be discontinued once formal distribution begins.
Meanwhile, the company has not disclosed several hardware specifications, including the wearable's exact battery capacity, device battery life, dimensions, and weight.
For prospective buyers, Temple's combination of head-based physiological tracking, lifetime software access, and promising internal test results provides an interesting proposition.
Yet, at ₹85,000, independent accuracy validation and clarity around returns could prove just as important as the technology itself.
