Google Launches Fitbit Air In India At ₹13,999, With No Screen And A Week Of Battery

Overall Rating

Google says Fitbit Air is designed to make wearable technology simpler and more affordable. The irony is hard to miss: the screenless tracker launches in India at ₹13,999 or roughly $146, while it costs $99 in the U.S.

Still, Fitbit Air is not trying to be a cheaper smartwatch. It is Google’s smallest Fitbit tracker yet, built for 24/7 wear and designed to move notifications and deeper health insights to the Google Health app.

TL;DR

  • Fitbit Air goes on sale in India on October 2 for ₹13,999 through the Google Store and retail partners.
  • It tracks heart rate, heart rhythm with Afib alerts, SpO2, resting heart rate, heart rate variability and sleep.
  • Google claims up to one week of battery life, with five minutes of charging delivering a full day of use.
  • Buyers receive a three-month Google Health Premium trial with Google Health Coach access.

Google Fitbit Air India Price Puts Its Screenless Pitch To The Test

Fitbit Air reaches Indian shelves on October 2 in Obsidian, Berry, Lavender and Fog. Google lists it at ₹13,999 and bundles a three-month Google Health Premium trial.

Pricing may be the more interesting part of the launch, as the same product comes with a price tag of $99 in the U.S., while its rival, Whoop One, comes in at ₹21,990 in India. Some reports note an introductory ₹1,000 reduction, although Google’s own India announcement lists ₹13,999.

Fitbit Air Health Features Bring 24/7 Tracking Without A Display

The main idea is to remove the screen without stripping away the health sensors. Fitbit Air tracks heart rate around the clock, heart rhythm with atrial fibrillation alerts, blood oxygen levels, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep stages and sleep duration.

Users can start workouts from the Google Health app, follow coach-recommended sessions or let Fitbit Air automatically recognize common activities and send a recap afterward. Google says detection becomes more personalized over time, while users can still log workouts manually.

Google also says users can wear a Pixel Watch during the day, switch to Fitbit Air for sleep and continue tracking without interrupting their health history. That fits Google’s wider health-wearable direction, which we recently covered through Pixel Watch 5 and its Health Guardian features.

Google Health Coach Turns Fitbit Air Data Into Personalized Guidance

Fitbit Air is closely tied to Google Health Coach, which turns activity and wellness data into personalized guidance. Premium users can photograph cardio equipment or a circuit-training routine and use that information with Health Coach instead of manually recreating the session.

The tracker works with most phones running Android 11 or later and Apple iOS 16.4 or later, and requires a Google Account and the Google Health app. Google also says Health Premium is included at no extra cost for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

It also reflects the broader move in wearable health technology toward continuous monitoring and app-based health insights. Google notes that its heart-rate and sleep features are intended for wellness rather than medical diagnosis, while Afib functionality carries eligibility limitations.

Fitbit Air Battery Life Supports Its 24/7 Wearability Push

Google claims up to one week of battery life, depending on features, usage and environment. A five-minute fast charge is designed to provide a full day of power.

The removable tracker can move between bands. A Performance Loop Band comes in the box, while Active and Elevated Modern options offer sportier silicone or more bracelet-like styling.

Fitbit Air Gives Google A Different Wearable Bet In India

Fitbit Air arrives as screenless health trackers carve out a niche. Reports find that India accounts for only 5% of the screenless wearable market, putting more attention on Google’s ₹13,999 pricing.

That makes the launch less about removing a display for novelty and more about whether buyers value distraction-free, passive health tracking enough to pay for it. Fitbit Air offers Google’s health ecosystem, a week-long battery target and a smaller form factor, but its price is likely to be the first number shoppers notice.
