The responsibilities of this position will depend on the size and scope of the network in question. Typically, this position requires a high level of networking and computer hardware expertise, and most often, it's reserved for an engineer or computer scientist. This is a job that requires you to be able to think on your feet, and it's a job where there are no second chances. Depending on your network, this could be anything from replacing a router or power supply to installing new firmware or even installing a new network if the one you have is beyond repair. Most of these tasks are easy but can be tricky if you need to know what you're doing. Depending on your home or office size, this might take a couple of hours or a day. If that weren't enough, they'll also be able to help you monitor usage on your network. It is beneficial if you have remote employees who need access to specific files or applications stored there. It would help if you also focused on improving your computer and analytical skills, troubleshooting issues, and becoming knowledgeable about hardware.
