What Is Videography?

You can make your video without being a pro. It's easy! Videography captures moving images using electronic media such as tape, hard drive, DVD/CD, Blu-ray, etc. It is also an art and a process of shooting a video differently, where it elicits a desired effect on the viewer. A videographer may be the person shooting the video (the camera operator) or the person in charge of the production (director), which can also apply to the person who does video editing. In the 2010s, the time "videographer" is often replaced with "video producer". It has come about due to the increased usage of the term "videographer" among amateurs, who often do not have a professional background. However, the term "videographer" is also used to describe amateurs. Regardless of their work, videographers are expected to know filming techniques and principles thoroughly. They should also have a clean eye for detail, creativity, and in-depth script knowledge. The History of VideographyThe first time people attempted to record moving images was in 1878 when Thomas Edison made a short film called Roundhay Garden Scene. It was filmed using an early-motion camera and was only one second long! However, it was in 1895 that an American inventor named William Kennedy Dickson produced a Kinetoscope device, which allowed people to view moving images on their screens through peepholes. It was followed by another device called the scope, which allowed audiences to watch movies at amusement parks and other public places across America between 1896 and 1898 before being replaced by yet another invention known as the Cinematograph, which allowed people worldwide access to these new wonders of technology via their homes, thanks to Thomas Edison himself! Unfortunately, Videography is a booming business. It's not just about capturing videos anymore—you can make a career out of it!
