What Is Thin App?
To use software, a thin program is like having an iPhone. You can control them with just a web browser, and they have a sleek, alluring design. "Thin app" refers to software that can't run without another server or hardware component, which handles much of the app's features and code updates. The concept of a "thin app" evolved from the design of a "thin client," which is based on a client/server framework and employs some specific strategies. The term "thin client" was coined in computing to describe a computer with limited resources (including memory, processing power, and storage space) that must rely on another device to complete its duties. With a cloud service, the user's device only needs to be able to operate simple applications like a web browser or email client, while the server in the cloud handles everything else. Thin applications can be used without first installing them on the user's PC or mobile device. Instead, they are accessible via any device with an Internet link, thanks to their location on a remote server in the cloud. End users benefit from this because it eliminates the need for setup and downloads, making the product more convenient. Although thin applications have been possible ever since servers were first brought to the IT industry, they took off in the age of virtualization and cloud-delivered infrastructure. The light app model makes sense in these setups because the vendor is responsible for storing and delivering all necessary data and resources over the internet. Yet, it makes more reason for the app's functionality to be kept on the server rather than the client. Like other cloud services, a thin app approach means that end users can do less to use an app, such as manage a database or set up the software. Users are then able to shift their attention to other features of the software.
