What Is Text to Speech (TTS)?
What we call "Text-to-Speech" (or "TTS" for short) is a technique that makes computers sound like human voices. You may have your computer read a story before bed or narrate a news piece while preparing dinner. The power of TTS is right there. TTS is like having an on-demand personal reader available at all times. TTS can read anything from rap songs, jokes, recipes, and news articles. How exactly does it function? TTS can do this because it employs AI and complex computer algorithms to translate written text into spoken words. Natural language processing (NLP) interprets the text you provide. Once the text has been processed, the TTS system produces a voice indistinguishable from a human's. Using speech synthesis techniques, this voice is created by combining elements like intonation, pace, and pronunciation to mimic human speech. You'll forget you're not communicating with a human because of how lifelike the resulting computer-generated voice is. TTS has come a long way in recent years, and the voices it produces now sound remarkably human, complete with regional variations, unique characteristics, and even emotion. TTS has several real-world uses, including facilitating reading for the visually impaired and developing virtual assistants for smart homes. TTS is also employed in the automotive industry, combined with global positioning system (GPS) software to facilitate hands-free driving. Then there's the fun stuff, too! Games, audiobooks, and even podcasts all make use of TTS. Consider the possibilities of a podcast where you can listen to your favorite books or have your video game characters interact with you in real-time. The translation toolkit enables this and much more. To summarize, Text-to-Speech is a method of making text audible on a computer. TTS can generate human-sounding voices using natural language processing, speech synthesis, and complex computer algorithms to give the impression that they are conversing with you in real-time. This is the technology for you if you want a virtual assistant or want to have fun.
