What Is Radio Frequency Monitoring (RFM)?
In case you've ever been in a connection, you know how hard it is to determine whether your spouse is being faithful. Regardless of your trust, there's always that nagging suspicion, and for a good reason! Many people wish there were a method to guarantee their partners are faithful. You might be one of them. Are you curious to know if your partner is being unfaithful to you? With radio frequency monitoring (RFM), you can. An RFM system consists of at least two elements, one of which detects the presence or absence of the other. Depending on the application, one component may record the date and time the other element fails to receive a monitoring radio frequency (RF) signal. When the monitoring signal is again received, matching data is again recorded. RFM employs the same technology as radio frequency identification or RFID. The radio frequency spectrum is like a delicious spread of foods. Some frequencies are like the bottom layer of bread; you can't taste them, but they're necessary for other foods to exist. Then there's the top layer of bread (HF), which you can taste but only adds a little flavor to your meal. Then there's the whole thing with jam (VHF), and it's so good, but it gets all over the place and makes your hands sticky. If you're lucky enough to get some pickles in there, too (it's not just about meatballs), then everything is great! When you're being monitored, you last want your movements to be tracked by anyone. Yet if you're someone who's under house arrest, and you don't want to get caught violating your house arrest conditions, then this next bit of news is for you: technology has made it possible for police officers to know whether or not you've been where you say you've been. This technology is known as radio frequency monitoring (RFM), and it works by using an ankle bracelet and a base station that monitors its signals. If the base station detects that the ankle bracelet has moved outside of a certain distance from its base station, in other words, if it detects that the person wearing the ankle bracelet has left their home, then RFM will send out an alert to authorities so they can go find out what happened.
