What Is Near Field Communication (NFC)?
You may be unaware of it, yet you've been using NFC your whole life. We refer to this as "near-field communication" when we use the term "NFC." That's right: the technology that enables you to pay for things by tapping your phone against a reader at the grocery store is also the same thing that allows you to interact with people in a manner that is more profound than at any other time in history. When two NFC-compatible devices are brought within two centimeters of each other, they can exchange data or power with one another even if they do not have access to the internet. NFC chips, also known as tags, do not require a connection to the internet; nonetheless, they must be near one another. It is a scaled-down form of RFID for those curious about NFC. It is an expansion of the technology that enables you to pay for things with your credit card by tapping it, such as when you use public transit. Because NFC is backward-compatible with the RFID technology already in use, it can be used with anything you are already accustomed to utilizing in your daily life. For instance, Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay all employ NFC to create a frictionless checkout experience for smartphone users. This is why we can stroll up to the register at our favorite restaurants and pay for our meals without even taking our phones out of our pockets or purses. It is also frequently used to support contactless payment systems, which helps make purchases faster (and more convenient!) when you are out and about in public places. This indicates that you can communicate with two persons who want to use your phone without having any prior relationship with any of them using your phone. That's right. You can pry into the affairs of another person without even being aware of their identity!
