What Is J2EE Product Provider?
J2EE product providers are the backbone of the J2EE platform. The companies develop and supply the tools you need to build, deploy, and manage your J2EE applications. The J2EE platform is a set of specifications that define how to design, develop, deploy and manage Java-based enterprise applications. It's a collection of standards that Sun Microsystems and other companies developed to allow developers to create applications that can run on any operating system or computer hardware. J2EE applications are written using the Java programming language. This means that they can be distributed across networks without needing special software or hardware installed on each computer where they're used. The J2EE product provider is the role that most people are familiar with, but there are others. The same person or organization may function two or more functions at once. Many organizations have adopted this approach to managing their J2EE applications. For example, let's say that your organization has two teams: Team A and Team B. Team A is responsible for writing the code for your J2EE application. At the same time, Team B is responsible for writing the documentation for your application. You could hire a third party to manage both teams—meaning they'd perform two roles (a product provider and a project manager) or you could hire one person from each group to manage them—meaning they'd perform three functions (a product provider, a project manager, and an architect). You might wonder why you'd want to do this; hiring someone who knows how to do everything in-house would be cheaper than hiring two people who specialize in different areas of your organization's work! Consider this: If multiple people have ownership over other parts of your organization's application life cycle, then everyone involved will feel more invested in its success.
