What Is Home Location Register (HLR)?
With the Home Location Register (HLR), you can locate anyone anywhere in the world. We mean anywhere, even if they're on a ship in the middle of the ocean or desert somewhere. The HLR is an enormous database that contains pertinent data regarding subscribers authorized to use a global system for the mobile communications network. Some information stored in an HLR includes the international mobile subscriber identity and the mobile station international subscriber directory number of each subscription. Users can access their friends' current locations by simply entering their IMSIs into their phones. The HLR also includes a fault log that records any changes to the record. These fault logs are essential for troubleshooting, network capacity management and compliance with regulatory requirements. The HLR also stores service usage data for each subscription, which Can use for revenue assurance. The HLR receives service usage data from the SRI and stores it. Service usage data includes data generated from the UIC, such as call detail records (CDRs) and speed measurements, as well as data generated by the subscriber, such as mobile data usage. Home Location Register (HLR) is the primary source of recent location information because cell phones, and their respective SIMs, are primarily mobile. The HLR serves as a repository for this information, updated each time the SIM transfers into another location area. The HLR also plays a vital role in sending short message services (SMS). Before the SMS company forwards the message to the intended recipient, it scans through the HLR to find which mobile switching center (MSC) the recipient has recently used. A home location register is an essential tool in mobile phone technology. It's a database of all your recent moves and is used for everything from sending texts to determining where you are when you call someone.
