What Is High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)?

If you're unfamiliar with the High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard, Do what it means for you in just a few seconds. HEVC is a video compression standard that offers double the data compression ratio at the same or more elevated level of video quality and the same bit rate as its predecessor, AVC (Advanced Video Coding). You can have twice as much video content on your device without sacrificing quality. The HEVC standard supports resolutions up to 8192×4320, which includes 8K ultra-high definition. One of its best features is that it helps reduce artifacts at block edges through its improved deblocking filter and sample adaptive offset. Patents protect this new standard, and commercial use requires royalty payments. High-Efficiency Video Coding is a big deal. It's one of the most exciting innovations in video since the invention of the remote control, and it will change your life. HEVC help pay-TV operators to distribute high-quality, high-definition video pictures at half the bandwidth of MPEG video, which gives them room for additional revenue-generating services. HEVC allows 4G cellular broadband operators to distribute video to previously unreachable or marginal service territories using MPEG-4. And it gets better: High-Efficiency Video Coding improves support for higher-motion programming and color improvement. Then it gets even better: HEVC helps in the empirical distribution of ultra-high definition television! Some people say that HEVC could be more significant than the internet itself. They're probably right!
