What Is Graphene?
Graphene is the future, and you know it. If you don't know about it, we are definitely here to help. It's so thin you can see right through it but so strong that you'll never be able to break it. It's transparent but also conducts electricity like a pro. Get this: graphene has double the electrical conductivity of copper! That means it could use to make super-fast computers or even faster Wi-Fi. It can also be used in solar panels because it absorbs light like nobody's business. Graphene is pretty cool stuff, but that's not all: this material is also flexible and transparent. So what does that mean for us? We could use graphene as a layer of protection on our devices so they don't get scratched up by whatever else we put in our pockets or bags (and being able to see through your device would be pretty cool, too!). Graphene will change everything; we're just waiting for someone smart enough to figure out how we can make enough of it! Graphene is the most robust material in the world. It conducts electricity with electrons moving significantly faster than silicon with fewer interruptions. It is also an excellent heat conductor and is conductive independent of the temperature present. The two-dimensional structure of graphene improves the electrostatics required for transistors. By weight, graphene is more robust than steel. Because of these strong bonds, electrons move through graphene at extremely high speeds, so fast that other electrons or atoms can't divert them. It makes it an excellent conductor of electricity and heat. Graphene also has a very high current-carrying capability, allowing it to conduct large amounts of electricity without overheating. It could be used to build better batteries than those currently on the market.
