What Is Google Plus (Google+)?
Google Plus (Google+) was a social network built over Web 2. 0 standards and specifications owned and operated by Google Inc. It was launched in June 2011 and received a lot of hype as a viable competitor to Facebook. Google+ was a mixture of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. All rolled into one product with some extra features for good measure. It is no mystery that Facebook has been the dominant social network for quite some time now, leaving other players in the industry trying to find ways to compete with them. This resulted in some exciting social products, including Google+, which tried its best to take on Facebook head-on by offering users many of the same features we see on Facebook, such as groups, events and video chat. There were many reasons why people would choose Google+ over Facebook. Still, one thing that stands out is its focus on privacy, which makes it ideal for those who don't want other users to know their personal information or location without their consent. It was like Facebook but with the bonus of Google search. You could share photos, videos, and links—and you could do it without worrying about cluttering up your friends' newsfeeds. You could create separate circles for people you don't know well yet but want to keep tabs on (like the new boss at work) or for family members who didn't deserve to be subjected to your daily ramblings about how much you hated your job you could also make posts public or private, which was a nice feature when dealing with sensitive information or pictures that might not be appropriate for everyone's eyes. The best part? If you +1 something on Google Plus, it will get boosted in search results. So if you were connected with someone who promoted something they love (be it their favorite band or restaurant), then it would show up higher than other results in searches by those who are connected to both of you.
