What Is Erlang C?
Utilizing the telephony traffic paradigm known as Erlang C is beneficial for the administration of call centers. It is built on the concept of an Erlang, which is a telephony-based virtual unit that symbolizes a specific amount of work being done on a system. This idea serves as the foundation for the system. The most prevalent application of the word "erlang" refers to a measurement based on the number of minutes spent on the phone. A. K. Erlang is credited with developing the mathematical formula that is used to quantify the probability of lost telephone calls when an excessive number of people are attempting to use the same line simultaneously. "Erlang" was named after him in recognition of his contributions. The formula was initially designed for use by telephone companies, but it has since found use in various situations, including call centers and computer networks. There is just one type of load that can be measured with an Erlang: the number of calls per hour or minutes per hour (C/h). This is the only form of load that can be measured. For example, if you have one employee on duty during your usual business hours, that individual will handle around one hundred calls per hour, equivalent to 0.01 calls per hour (C/h). During regular business hours, if you have two employees working together, they can handle 150 calls per hour, the same as 0.015 calls per hour for each worker. Erlang C is the required number of customer service agents who can answer calls at a rate of tps once every 500 seconds on average. If this is the case, you will need around one representative every two minutes of call time if you receive ten calls per minute (20 seconds). If the pace at which your customers are calling is lower than that, then you will need fewer agents for every two minutes' worth of call time.
